    PP packaging: stiff, chemical-resistant polypropylene.

Stiff, chemical-resistant, and broadly compatible with cosmetic and clinical formulas. PP is the workhorse resin behind most of the jars we make and a lot of the closures that go on top of them.

    01. What it is

    Inside the resin.

Polypropylene is a semi-rigid thermoplastic with excellent chemical resistance and a higher heat tolerance than PE. It takes a glossy finish well, which is why it's the default resin for single-wall and double-wall cosmetic jars, and it's also the standard material for caps, closures and pump components.

    02. Best for

    When to choose PP.

    • Cosmetic jars (single-wall, double-wall, wide-mouth)
    • Clinical and pharma-grade bottles where chemical resistance matters
    • Closures, caps and pump bodies
    • Brands wanting a glossy, premium jar finish without glass weight or cost

    04. Sustainability

    The footprint.

PP recycling access varies more by municipality than PET or HDPE, so we flag that honestly rather than overclaim it. PCR PP is available and performs identically to virgin once decorated; combining PCR PP with acrylic-over-PP construction is a common way to keep the premium jar look while adding recycled content.

    05. Decoration

    Decoration options.

    • Silk screen
    • Hot stamping
    • Pad printing
    • Embossed lids
    • Soft-touch coating

    06. FAQ

    Common questions.

Why is PP the default for cosmetic jars?

It takes a glossy, premium finish well, holds up to a wide range of cosmetic formulas, and is more cost-efficient than acrylic or glass at volume.

    Is PP recyclable?

Yes, PP is a #5 resin. Curbside acceptance varies more by municipality than PET or HDPE, worth checking your target market's local program if that's a claim you want to make.

    Can PP be PCR?

Yes, PCR PP is available and looks and performs identically to virgin PP once decorated.
